What is the one skill that gives you an edge. The secret is to be able to learn quickly and efficiently.
We live in a world of change and so the skill to learn quickly and be able to then apply it is even more critical as knowledge grows.
As part of our workshops and courses and for the people I mentor I share learning strategies.
One wonderful technique is The Feynman Technique
1. Teach it to a child.
Whatever you are learning, put the material into language as if you are trying to teach it to a child. This process will force you to think hard. Get rid of jargon
The process will help you identify gaps. Knowing what you don’t know tells you the limits of current knowledge
3. Organise and Simplify
As Thomas Mann said
“Order and simplification are the first steps toward the mastery of a subject”
4. Teach it to someone else
If you see yourself as a teacher and explain it to someone else you crystallise your knowledge
